Note: Death of T. J. Burnett
Thomas Jefferson Burnett was born Dec. 17, 1814 and died at his home near Dyson's, SC, June 15, 1903. He moved to the place where he died in 1836.
He was a consistent member of the Sister Spring's Baptist Church for 67 years. He was married 4 times, his last wife was the widow King, her maiden name was Miss Eliza Polatty, who still survives him.
Mr. Burnett was a good neighbor and kind friend and was a strong believer in upholding civil law. In his last illness, he expressed to his wife that he was ready and willing to depart and to be forever with the Lord. He went down to the grave in a full age; like as a shock of corn cometh in, in his season. May a Kind Heavenly Father comfort and sustain the bereaved wife, and guide the feet of the children in the the way of life. The Greenwood Index, Greenwood, SC, Thursday, July 2, 1908)
