a. Note:   Freedom,
 Sauk Co., Wisconsin, at the time of his enlistment on 4 Nov. 1861. He
 served in Company 'K', Second Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. Nineteen
 members of the 2nd Regiment were residents of Sauk County. Of these,three
 died from wounds in battle, and Conrad was one of those killed. Pvt.
 'Plott' was killed in action on 28 Aug. 1862, at Gainesville,Virginia.
  (Conrad was probably buried hastily after the his death, as the Second
 Battle of Manassas was still raging. He and other Union casualtieswere
 probably disinterred after the war and buried, unidentified, in a mass
 grave at Arlington National Cemetery.)
