 Caroline was a devout Christian and went to Church in an oxen cart. After her husband died, she lived with a daughter, Amanda Elizabeth Thomasson and after 1903 she lived with a son, Lewis Lafayette Richardson, who lived in Elberton, Georgia, and then went to live with her daughter, Mary Curtis in Augusta, Georgia. She was a school teacher and taught the slaves on the Patterson Plantation to read and write.

 Mrs. Caroline Richardson Dead
 "Mrs. Caroline Richardson, widow of the late William Richardson, died last night at 8 o'clock. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter, Mrs. M.A. Curtis, at 1348 Myers Street.
  Mrs. Richardson, who was sick about four weeks, was in the 88th year of her age. She is survived by three sons, Mr. J.M.Richardson, Mr. B.J.Richardson, and Mr. L.L.Richardson, and three daughters, Mrs. M.A.Curtis, Mrs. W.C.Thomas, and Mrs. B.J.Blackman.
  The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. J.M. Bowden, will be from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M.A.Curtis, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The interment is at West View Cemetery."
