This date of birth has to be wrong since 1870 was not a leap year (not divisible by 4), so we must presume that he was born on February 28, 1870. Another note: Long Cane Cemetery is operated by an Association, not the Church. It's pretty much a non-denominational, community cemetery. Information on the Cemetery records from John Blythe of Abbeville, South Carolina, [email protected]@WCTEL.NET. Received an email on Sunday, June 11, 2000 from Gary D. Treat = [email protected]@swbell.net. He states that Meredith A. Thompson's name is MERIDA A. THOMPSON who married Lutheria ?, her last name was unknown to him. He connects through Wiley Thompson's daughter, Mary Ann Thompson. Also, he says that Wiley Thompson was born in Georgia, NOT North Carolina, but that Merida was either born in Georgia or TEXAS??? Received Email from Sharon Moody, she says that Mary Ann, sister of Meredith A. Thompson was born in Texas. Her source was from another researcher and she could not verify this fact. Ordered Death Certificate June, 2000. Received Death Certificate on July 3, 2000. It states that he died in Anderson County, S. C. and his Usual Residence was in Abbeville, S. C. He died at Anderson Memorial Hospital. He was a Male, White, Married, b. Feb. 29, 1870 (could not be right - see note above) and his age in years was 80, 6 months and 13 days. He was a Shoe Cobbler, Retired from the Shoe Shop. He was born in TEXAS, USA. His Father's name was listed as WYLIE ASBURY THOMPSON and his mother was listed as FRANCES GUNTER. His wife was listed as LOUTHERIA LOGGINS THOMPSON. The informant was Mr. EMORY A. THOMPSON (son). He died on September 12, 1950 at 1:45 P.M. Medical: Bilateral Pyonephrosis Severe and Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate & Urinary Bladder and Anemia Secondary Severe. He was operated on September 25, 1946 and February 8, 1950 for Prostatic Obstruction-Adenocarcinoma, Grade (2). An Autopsy was performed.
