Note: James Thompson ABBEVILLE -- James Wiley Thompson, 86, of 59 Lake Russell Lane died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital. Born in Commerce, Ga., he was the son of the late William Ernest and Tiny Gertrude Langston Thompson. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and brick mason. He was one of Jehovah Witnesses. Surviving are widow, Catherine Gailey Thompson of the home; sons, Charles Thompson of Commerce, and Tim Thompson of Iva; daughter, Janie Thompson of the home; brothers, Hubert Thompson of Abbeville, and Jack Thompson of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville is in charge of arrangements. ---------- James W. Mr. Thompson married Catherine Gailey on December 27, 1936, and they were happily married for 66 years, said family members. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 3, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah�s Witnesses, Abbeville, S.C. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Catherine Gailey Thompson; two sons, Charles Thompson, Commerce, and Tim Thompson, Iva, S.C.; one daughter, Janie Thompson, Iva, S.C.; two brothers, Hubert Thompson, Abbeville, S.C., and Jack Thompson, Greenwood, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
