 Mrs. Mattie Curtis Dies at Residence on Gardner Street
  "Mrs. Mattie Lee Beagle Curtis, 64, died at her home, 2249 Gardner Street, yesterday morning at 8:05 o'clock after a long illness.
  A native of Washington, Ga., Mrs. Curtis had been a resident of Augusta for the past 44 years. She was a devout member of the Curtis Baptist Church, and was active in fraternal circles and beloved by a wide circle of friends. She was a member of the Lile W. Thompson Council of the Daughters of America.
  Funeral services will be conducted at the Curtis Baptist Church this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. E.C.Sheridan will officiate and interment will follow in the West View Cemetery.
  Active pallbearers will be E.A.Brodeur, J.W.Thompson, W.D.Jones, Dr.C.C.Timmons, Fred Quarles, and Henry Brown.
  The members of the Lila W. Thompson Council of the Daughters of America will serve as honorary pallbearers.
  Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband, William P. Curtis; three brothers, George Beagle, Elberton, Ga.; James Beagle, Florida; and Fred Beagle, Philadelphia; four sisters, Mrs. Lula Wood, Augusta; Mrs. C.B.Walker, Abbeville, S.C.; Mrs. O.P.McLean, Charlotte, N.C.; and Mrs. D.K.Cason of Rock Hill, S.C."
