Note: 1920 Census, Richmond County, Georgia, Militia District 1269 16/125 William Curtis, age 43 Mattie, age 44 WOOD, Walter, nephew, age 21 WOOD, Thelma, niece, age 20 WOOD, Walter, Jr., nephew, age 1-3/12 ------------ Obit: The Augusta Chronicle, Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 1951 "William Pennell Curtis, 75, of Martinez, Ga. died yesterday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at Elliott Sons chapel this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. A.H.Simmons will officiate. Interment will be in West View Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home until the hour of the services. Mr. Curtis, a native of Wilkes County, had been a resident of Martinez for six years. He was a former grocery merchant and at one time was employed at the Country Club. He was a member of Lila W. Thompson Council, Daughters of America. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ella Beagle Curtis; four stepsons, Grady S. Walker of Ninety-Six, S.C.; Robert H. Walker of Augusta, G.W.Walker of Simpsonville, S.C. and Harold J.Walker of Knoxville, Tenn; stepdaughters, Mrs. J.A.Porter of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Walker of Augusta and Mrs. Salley Franklin of Martinez, and a number of nieces and nephews."
