a. Note:   Notes for John W. Campbell: John W. Campbell who died on June 23, 1916, was born in Muskingum Co., Ohio May 4, 1836. His father was Addison Campbell and his mother was Lucy (Holmes) Campbell. His mother died while he was young and early in life he was thrown up his own resources to make it through life. He came to Illinios and made his home with his Uncle Benjamin Griffith. He was a cooper by trade and worked early and late in trying to make a financial start.
 On November 25, 1855, he was married to Mary E. McFarland. To this union were born twelve children, five of whom proceeding him to the great beyound. Those left to keep his memory green are as follows: Marcus A. of Terre Haute, Nelson V. who lives on a farm adjoining the family home, John W. Jr. who also live nearby, Anna M. of Marion Ill, Irene E. of Hadley, Indiana,, Hugh Mc. of West Terre Haute and Lyman, who was living with his father at the time of his death, the mother passes away Sept. 4, 1915. In addition to the children who survive, there are one brother, Addison V. Campbell of Missouri and one sister, Mary Jane McFarland of Indiana, also one half brother, Joseph of Terre Haute, and three half sisters, Lucy, Ann and Ellen, also forty six grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
