a. Note:   The family was also connected to the Sanders family of Exeter who ran the Exeter Bank. Ann Barnes, Ralph's wife, died in February 1822 aged 80. There is an obituary notice in the Exeter Flying Post for her also, but I have not checked this.

Note:   Ralph Barnes, vicar of St Merryn and prebendary of Exeter Cathedral married Ann Blackall by licence at St Paul's church, Exeter on 30th April 1770. Ann was the daughter of Rev. Theophilus Blackall.
