b. Note:   e seems to be correct. His occupation is listed as a policeman which is the same as on daughter Katie's birth certificate. The address is the same as the 1900 census. Also in the same house is a WETTIG family, presumably his brother in law. His wifes age has a discrepency and it could be that this is a second wife.
Note:   In the census he is listed as James Usher ! Everything els
c. Note:   NF4518
Note:   From the 1920 and 1930 it looks *possible* that Walter has taken a second wife "Lena". She is now 10 years younger and the date of her first marriage in the 1930 census is 45, which suggests 1919. If so, she is also of German descent. There is a Wettig family living in the same house in 1920 and 1930 and is probably the brother of his first wife, although it states he was born in Maine.
