  I regret being so useless - although in the home at the time of my father's death - I never remember to have heard the cause.
  I think I am correct in saying I never heard of Cancer in any member of my Mother's family.
  Indeed I do remember dear Willie's last visit & little thought we were never to meet again. I hope you are succeeding in your Profession and if you can spare a few minutes occasionally - for correspondance I should be delighted to hear from you.
  I sorely miss your sister Gertrude's letters - but I hear sometimes from her kind young daughter who never forget me. I think they try to fill her place in my life. I heard from there yesterday & was pleased to learn of their father's improved health. They are expecting their brother from over who will perhaps take a few days fishing in the
  Your Aunt Lizzie was staying with them. I am really sorry to be of so little use to you - but I am delighted to have heard from you. Write like a dear good boy - & if you would like a room over here I have a small but comfortable spare room & a basin or cold bath as you please.

 Vol 1 p.202 16/11/1870, enclose succession duties due from Caroline, now Mrs Caffrey, she is a twin sister of Mrs Usher
 Vol 1 p.259, it looks as if Caroline married a Mr Caffrey and emmigrated to New Zealand
