Notes
a. Note:   Floyd worked for the S&L Company (Salkin and Linoff) from before World War Two until about 1971. He started as a clerk in the Benson, MN store, where Letitia Burke also worked. They married in secret, because the store did not allow married couples to work in the same location. He was manager of stores in Devils Lake, Fargo and Jamestown, North Dakota prior to his resignation from the company. In the later years of his employment he purchased two farms, and began breeding and raising Registered Angus cattle. When he left employment at S&L he returned to Minnesota, to the Pope County farm, where he continued as a cattle breeder until 1984.
During all the years of being a businessman, he raised and trained horses. During the twelve years in Devils Lake, he entered his horses in various shows, and won ribbons. An avid outdoor sportsman, he hunted ducks, geese, pheasant, grouse, rabbits, squirrel, deer. For many years while in Devils Lake and Fargo, he and his sons would travel to the Badlands of North Dakota to hunt Mule Deer, which are larger than the whitetail. Local lakes in the Devils Lake area provided good fishing and on occasion a trip to the north into Canada or the North Woods of Minnesota also provided him with fishing opportunities.
