Notes
a. Note:   Hogarth History
Very far back there was a William Hogarth in England who had two grandsons named for him. These two grandsons who were very great friends
were the great painter, William H__, and our ancestor of the same name.
During the rein of the early Hanovers, our ancestor left England for Ireland on account of the political disturbances. Its said that the two
cousins drank their farewell beer on the grave of Robin Hood.
This William Hogarth was the father of Richard Hogarth, who in turn was
 the father of John Hogarth.
John Hogarth married Jane Scott. They lived near Belfast, County Down Ireland. In 1792 with their three children {1. Mary m. Thomas Osburn, 2.
Richard (father of William (father of Fidelia Elliot of Detroit }, Rev. John
and Ann), 3. Alice m. Judge De Motte) they came to America. In America John
(father of Mary and Elizabeth Hogarth, N. Y. State), Jane m. Abram De Motte
 and Betsey Hogarth were born
After Jane Scott Hogarth died her husband married a woman named Bloomer.
Their children were those known to us as 1. Clarissa Johnson, 2. Aunt Sally
Nichols, 3. Aunt Emily Covert (mother of Mrs Joseph Foote, 4. Aunt Rebecca
 Dennis and uncle Andrew Hogarth.
Richard Hogarth (the son of first wife) was a tailor, a great mason, and a
very accomplished gentleman. The daughters of his brother John, Elizabeth
and Mary had a young Ladies boarding school in Goshen N.Y.
Joseph Foote had five boys one of whom was Charles Foot of Ridgeway John Hogarth's father had a brother Charles who died unmarried, John Hogarth had a half brother, Thomas and a whole brother William. This William
had a daughter living in Virginia whose family has been lost track of.
Jane Scott Hogarth had a brother, Robert, who graduated from Glasgow University with high honors and died soon after graduation. Jane Scott had a
sister who married a man named McCraker or McCraken. This woman's grandson,
John Hogarth Lozier, a few years ago ran for Prohibition Governor of Iowa.
He was an accomplished gentleman and interested in Hogarth history.
