One of the earliest cemeteries in Geneva Ontario Co. NY is the Pulteney Street Cemetery. It is not known what date the plot was set apart for burials but the probability is that it was in 1797. In the summer of 1920 this cemetery was taken over by the school district of the City of Geneva for the purpose of building a new high school. The burials were removed and taken to a location in Glenwood Cemetery and is known as "Pulteney-in-Glenwood". A report of the work discloses that 630 burials were removed of which 130 were unidentified. The following listing was made from tombstones in 1882.
