Note: ***************************** Clara may have descended from one of the Pilgrim community. See her possible genealogy at http://home.ici.net/cust_pages/dexlex/dexlex2.html [descendent #8.1056 on pp350-375 in her index] and http://home.ici.net/cust_pages/dexlex/Bumpy.html There is a Clara Bump that marries a (no first name) Uthe in Homer where her father had a farm. Her age is correct, and Frederick did live in Homer Township ***************************** E-mail dated 25 November 2000 from Margaret Merrill <[email protected]>: Subject: Clara Bump To: [email protected] Good Morning I have a few minutes while marinating the "Cuban" Turkey. (My husband saw the recipe on a Good Morning show. Anyway, Clara. Clara is indeed a part of the Bump family that goes back to Edouard Bompasse who arrived in Plymouth in 1621 on the Fortune. Her father was Clarence Josiah Bump b. Oct. 24, 1865-d. May 4, 1925, not Nelson as I may have said. Clarence Bump was a brother of my Great-grandmother, Kate Lucinda Bump who married Jesse Frank Barnes. Bumps' parents were Jefferson Bump and Fannie (Rockafellow) Bump. Jefferson Bumps' parents were Jacob and Lydia Bump who are buried in Brooks Cemetery, somewhere around Homer. The url for the Bump genealogy by Lynn Albert Bumpus is: <http://home.ici.net/~dexlex/dexlex.html> Kate is 7.773 which is to say, she is in generation 7, person # 773.If you follow her numbers backward it should give you all you ever dreamed of for Clarence's ancestors. I am certain that your Clara is my Clara as she was mentioned in an obit for one of the Bump's - can't remember which at the moment. Also, one of Nelson's children, Guy, had a son Walter, who married Florence Babicky, living, whom I have talked with and she gave me confirmation that Clarence had daughters, Clara who married Uthe and Viola who married Ohla and a son, Franklin Bump. Florence does not see well but her mind is sharp and she is sure of this. I do not have birth dates for Clara, Viola or Franklin but, Franklin is supposed to be buried in Brooks so that might help you. There is a small biography for Jefferson Bump at the Will County GenWeb site that you might want to look at. It omits Kate Lucinda but she is one of Jefferson's daughters. I in fact, have a photo of Fannie Bump if you are interested. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of any of Kate's siblings which I can identify. I have a photo of Fannie with 3 other women but no names on the back. No photos of Clarence, Nelson or Frank. I think I have "Bump" on a zip disk but will need to look at it and see if it is okay. Some of my files have developed quirks sitting in the box. Who are the concrete Davidsons? We don't get Chicago area news in Caldwell, Idaho. What's the scoop? In case I cannot find phone numbers for David Wheeler in Orland Park, maybe you would look in your phone book. Maggie ***************************** Samuel Bump's family is recorded in the 1870 census in IL, Will Co., Homer Twp., Page 20, 157/157; Lander Bump at page 26, 193/194; Thomas Bump, page 27, 200/201; ***************************** |
