Note: ngagement when her father, Yeshaya left for America. In those days, leaving the orthodox community was considered akin to apostasy, and going to America was a step in the wrong direction. Shortly after her father left in 1878, at the age of 17, she married Jacob Freilich and her mother left Frimit's 3 young sisters (Fannie, Tillie, and Annie) with her when she left for America in 1879 with Frimit's other 2 sisters. Frimit and Jacob had 11 children, of whom 7 survived their childhood. She came to America several times, but only lived a few years in this country, as she returned several times to Poland.
