Note: Mr. and Mrs. James W. Walker were killed in a car wreck in San Angelo, Texas, Tuesday Feb 11, 1947. The accident occured when the 1946 Ford driven by Mr. Walker failed to negotiate a turn in the outskirts of San Angelo. The automobile overturned six times after crashing through a large signboard, killing Mr. Walker instantly. Mrs. Walker died Friday Feb. 14, in a San Angelo hospital. Marker Blue Ridge, Texas Cemetary (4th lot inside west entrance gate on the left of tree lined road. 2nd lot from road) Inscription on stone: WALKER HELLON M JAMES W 1924 1947 1926 1947 J.W. entered the Coast Guard on May 26, 1943 and served at St. Augustine, Fla., Staten Island, N.Y., Manhattan Beach, N.Y., Portsmouth, Va. and one year and two days in the Atlantic. On Jan. 3, 1944 he received a citation from Rear Admiral Stanley V. Parker for heroic duty in rescuing men from a burning ship.
