Notes
a. Note:   In George's application for soldier's pension, W.M. Whisahunt gave the following statement about his service: I personally know that applicant Geo. W. Hunt, served for one year in the Confederate Army He and I were both members of Capt. Jim Moore's Company, Bolin's Regiment. Our command spent that year as follows: About six months of it we were in Fannin County, Texas on Red River keeping Indians back; before that we were six months in the Texas frontier preventing Indian depredations We were under Gen. Henry McCullough. Applicant was a good soldier and never deserted his post or the service.
G.W. Hunt told his children and grand-children that he had been a Texas Ranger for six years, six months and six days. He said he helped capture Cynthia Ann Parker from the Indians. He said the Indians were in camp and they rode through on their horses. One of the men grabbed Cynthia Ann and put her on his horse in front of him. They killed the Indians who tried to stop them. The only time George was wounded was when an Indian arrow knocked out one of his teeth .
