William married Elizabeth Parker, who was born 27 Apr 1815 in Manor House, Preston, Rutland Co., England. Their children are William Parker Irving, born 17 Oct 1842; John James Irving, born 19 Mar 1844; Henry Irving, born 5 Feb 1850; Mary Ann Irving, born 20 Jul 1854; and Edward Irving, born 5 Jun 1856; all born in Uppingham, Rutland Co., England.

  !MARRIAGE: This is his first marriage; Frieda's second.
  ! As per Carol Weldon, on WorldConnect, above source, she has a newspaper article from the Oakland Tribune, Oakland, California, 29 July 1908, page 4, column 2. It reads: "Astronomer Marries A recent marriage is that of Edward Irving, an astronomer of this city and Mrs. Freda Taylor of North Berkeley. They will make their future home at 1532 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley. Irving is a graduate of Oxford University and has published several works treating upon his chosen study.. Mrs. Irving was formerly matron of the Roosevelt Hospital."

  !NAME: On the census Soundex, Edward's last name was spelled MANING; but in looking at the census itself, it was the opinion of several of us that the name was IRVING.

As per Carol Weldon, source above from WorldConnect, his obituary reads: "Funeral of Astronomer Berkeley, Dec. 18 (1912) The funeral of Edward Irving, astronomer, author and linguest of this city, was held this morning under the auspices of Court University, No. 7915, Ancient Order of Foresters and Cherokee Tribe, No. 101, Improved Order of Red Men, at Gorman and McNamara chapel. The services were followed by cremation at Mountain View. Irving had lived in Berkeley for 10 years. He is survived by a widow." Oakland Tribune, Oakland, California, 18 Dec 1912, page 14, columns 1-2.
