a. Note:   g -- in San Francisco August 9, 1872, the wife of John Utschig, a son. (Have an extracted copy.) Also, his birth is announced in the Sacramento Bee newspaper, same date.
  !OCCUPATION: He worked for his father as a shoemaker. When there was no longer a call for hand-made shoes, they evidentally went out of business. He then had a Call Bulletin route; then worked for the ship yards; then as a stock clerk in a wholesale drug company (I believe in the Los Gatos area.)
  !MARRIAGE: John and Emma were not married in the Catholic Church, according to Jeannette Utschig Plate, even though their son Irving was baptized in the Catholic Church. Jeannette thinks they had a civil ceremony.
  ! San Francisco Chronicle, 30 Apr 1896, p. 14, c. 4; MARRIAGE column. Typed "UTSCHIG-KUHN. In this city, April 30 by Rev. Fuendeling, William (sic) Utschig to Emma Kuhn." Rev. Fuendeling has performed many of the marriages; someone must have typed in the wrong name, for Emma married my grandfather, John Louis Utschig.

  !DEATH: CA Los Gatos death certificate; RE: 13/560; Regis. Dist. #4354; Registrar's #69; have a typed copy of the original done by the County. It stated that his father was John L. Utschig.
