Note: The parentage of Henry Franville Ufford is based on my analysis of circumstantial evidence. --A Henry Franville Pease, youngest son of Elam Pease and Jemima Bush, is buried at Hall Cemetery, Lee, Oneida County, NY, 13 March 1823. He was born 23 May 1814 and died March 1823 8 years 9 months 20 days. --Persis Pease, oldest daughter of Elam & Jemima marries Caleb Ufford in 1822. --Henry Franville Ufford is born in 1827 in Oneida Co., NY. --The 1820 census for Lee, Oneida Co., NY shows a Caleb Ufford as head of a household with 2 males 19-25 and a female 16-25. I'm thinking the others are a brother and sister or wife of his brother or possibly a 1st wife for Caleb. --The 1830 census for Watson Twp., Lewis Co., NY [just north of Lee, Oneida Co.,] shows Caleb as heading a household of 1 male under 4 [Henry would have been 3], 1 male 30-40 [himself], 2 females under 5, 1 female 5-10, and 1 female 30-40 [Persis who was born 14 December 1792]. --The 1840 census for Watson Twp., Lewis Co., NY, shows Caleb heading a household 1 male 10-15 years old [Henry would have been 13], 1 male 30-40 [Caleb], 1 female under 5, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 15-20. Persis died in 1839. --I cannot find Caleb in an 1850 NY census record. --Henry Franville Ufford names a son Myron [Leroy] P. Ufford. Could the P. stand for Pease, Henry's mother's maiden name? --Thus, I think the unusual name Henry Franville was used by Caleb and Persis to name their first son after Persis' youngest brother who died in 1823 at the age of 8.
