Note: Dave and Lynda Thomas visited the Norwegian Emigration Center in Stavanger, Norway in Sept. 2011 and found the following information: 1. Anders Anderson was born out of wedlock to Ole Andersen and Olia Eriksdatter. There is no record of Ole and Olia ever marrying. Anders carried the name Anders Olsen in Norway. 2. The 1865 Census has him living on the Upper Sinderud Farm in the same house as Christian Nielsson. He is listed as 26 years old with the occupation of a shoemaker. Chistian is listed as 75 years old. 3. His marriage to Marthe in the Norwegian records is June 1, 1868 rather than the 1865 date referred to in U.S. family records. An 1865 date may have been a convenient date to choose for a marriage date since their first two children were born in Apr 1866 and Aug 1868. 4. When their sons Carl and John were born, the family was living on Lower Sinderudeie [Sinderud] Farm 5. He is listed as moving out of Stange, Norway on 27 Apr. 1868 6. Anders and his family is listed as leaving from Oslo, Norway to England on 17 Apr 1885 with their ultimate destination Dodgeville.Their passage had been prepaid by someone else. His occupation is listed as shoemaker. The family names and ages were listed as follows with them all coming from Stange, Hedmark. Anders Olsen 46 Marte Olsen 40 Matea Olsen 16 Kristian Olsen 11 Oline Olsen 10 Andreas Olsen 8 Martinius Olsen 5 Karl Olsen 3 Johan Olsen 11/12 [11 months] Lynda and Dave Thomas visited Sinderud farm in Aug 2011. No one was at home on the farm when we stopped, so no information was obtained from the current occupants of the farm. First name is given as Andrew in Mattie's, his daughter's, obituary. Death date of March 16, 1910 is given in some family sources. ANDERS ANDERSON Anders Anderson, a highly respected citizen of the town of Dodgeville, departed this life on Saturday evening, April 16th, 1910 at the age of 70 years six months. In 1865 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Christopherson, of "Wang", Norway. They came to America and to the town of Dodgeville in 1885 which has since been their home. Of the eleven children who were born to this union, four have preceded the father in death, three in infancy, the fourth, Christ, who died last July, near Barneveld in an accident. The children living are: Ole A. of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Josiah Thomas, Ridgeway; Mrs. Sever Amble, of Vermont, Wis.; Andrew M., Monroe; Martin, at home; Charley, town of Dodgeville; John, Vermont, Wis. The children were all present at the funeral of the aged father and also paid him a last visit during the brief but painful illness, for a last farewell. There are 24 grandchildren. Mr. Anderson was a shoemaker by trade having learned the trade when a child. After his arrival to this country he worked more or less for eighteen years with Ole Lee of Hyde [Clyde?]. The funeral was held from the home and Dodgeville Church on Tuesday, April 19th, and was largely attended by relatives, friends, and neighbors, Rev. P. J. Nestande officiating. The pallbearers were Albert Larson, Gus Gulson, Richard Cutler, Alick Gullick, Christ Christianson, Michael Andersen. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Halvor Rue, Barneveld; J. Thomas of Ridgeway; Minnie Zepplin of Barneveld, Sever Amble of Vermont and a few others. "It is sad that one we cherish Should be taken from our home, But the joys that do not perish, Live in Memory alone. All the years we've spent together, All the happy golden hours, Shall be cherished in remembrance, Fragrant sweet from memory's flowers.
