Note: Donald Paul Johnson Obituary and other items concerning his death Unknown Newspapers (probably from Darlington and/or Shullsburg, Wisconsin) Obituary Donald Paul Johnson Donald Paul, son of Olive and Howard Johnson, passed peacefully to That Better Land, February 13, 1936. Donald was born in Seymour township November 19, 1935. He was taken ill very suddenly on Wednesday, February 12 and grew worse toward morning. A doctor was sent for but before he could be brought due to the bad roads and heavy drifts Donald had passed away. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Nelson Funeral Home, Rev. Megahey officiating. Burial was made in Union Grove cemetery. Walk Seven Miles Through Drifts Wading cross-country through snow drifts for a distance of seven miles, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tyson arrived at the Howard Johnson home in Truman last Thursday morning upon receiving word of the death of Donald Paul, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Tyson, stranded in the snow about three miles out of Shullsburg, were compelled to leave their car and complete their journey on foot. (another article about Mr. and Mrs. Tyson walking through the snow) Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Tyson, who resides about three miles north of Shullsburg, walked about six miles to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson, the morning their son, Donald Paul, passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson live on the Cullen farm four miles northwest of Seymour Corners. This is a very heroic deed for anyone to do, especially a woman, in the cold and blizzardly day as it was. Mr. Tyson is a brother to Mrs. Johnson.
