Obituary Wisconsin State Journal Madison, WI May 22, 2008 Thomas, Donald L. Sr. RIDGEWAY- Donald L. Thomas Sr., age 84, of Ridgeway, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. He was born on June 17, 1923, in Mineral Point township to the late Everett and Sophie (Gratz) Thomas. Donald entered the U.S. Marines [Army] and served in the South Pacific in World War II from 1944 until 1946. He married the former Eileen Wiesen on Aug. 28, 1947, and she preceded him in death on June 22, 1999. Donald and Eileen farmed in the Mineral Point area until 1977, then moved to Ridgeway. Donald's family and the outdoors were the most important things to him. Donald is survived by seven children, Jane (Gene) Urban, Donna (Tim) Roenneburg, Donnie (Mary) Thomas, Judy (John) Duggleby, Cathy Thomas, Tim Thomas, and Barbara (Dennis) Dolan; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mae Ross of Michigan; his twin sister, Dorothea Iverson of Arizona; a brother, Jack Thomas in Bloomfield Manor in Dodgeville; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law. Donald wished to also acknowledge his very special friends, Carol Small and Carol Thomas, as well as the staff who cared for him at Bloomfield Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; and his brother, Jerrold Thomas. Funeral servces will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the RIDGEWAY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Charlene Bennett will officate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, May 22, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME, Mineral Point, and also on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
