 Peter Ethridge
Peter Ethridge died at his home in this city on Friday evening, Nov. 22 aged 73 years and 9 months.
Deceased was born in Smith county, Tenn., Mch. 1st 1822. Ten years afterward he removed to this state, and has been a continuous resident here for more than 63 years. In 1844 he was united in marriage to Abigail Rawdon. Ten children blessed their union, nine of which are living, viz. Mrs. Nancy Eaton of Iowa, Mrs. Martha Matley of Darlington, Mrs. Margaret Andrews of Lamont, Mrs. Adelpha Lymburn, Mrs Emma Alderman and Mrs. Hattie Hungerford of Mauston, John Ethridge of Iowa, Emery Ethridge of Dak. and William Ethridge of Darlington.
Deceased was of the rugged, sturdy type of our early pioneers. He was by nature scrupulously honest, and fearless and outspoken in his opinions. A kind neighbor and a loving husband and father, he will be sadly missed by his large circle of relatives and friends.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, the remains being interred in the Fayette cemetery, Rev. Sinclair officiating.
The aged widow and family have the sympathy of the community, in their affliction.
