Note: CHRIST ANDERSON YOUNG MAN KILLED NEAR BARNEVELD Christ Anderson Meets Death by Kick From a Horse LIVES ONLY FOR A FEW HOURS Was a Son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson of town of Dodgeville This neighborhood was much shocked Sunday morning when the sad news came on the phones that Christ Anderson of the town of Dodgeville, had met death in an accident, Saturday evening, July 31st, 1909. As Mr. Anderson was unharnessing a horse on the Casady farm, near Barneveld after returning from the harvest field, the vicious animal kicked him, striking right over the heart, resulting in death about six hours later. Everything that could be done, was done immediately, but the spirit left the clay hovel about eleven o'clock. The young man was no more, but we trust that He whose name is Love and who had compassion upon his dying fellow comrade on the cross handed out also to this young man grace and pardon in the hour of death. He was conscious the last two hours. Mr. Anderson was born in Vang, Hedemarken, Norway, Aug. 8, 1872. Thus the brief time of his sojourn here was 36 years, 11 months and 23 days. He came with his parents to this country in 1885, and has lived here ever since. In 1887 he was confirmed in the Dodgeville Lutheran Church, of which church he was a member until his death. Mr. Anderson was an amiable and jolly disposition, and he always was ready to render aid, and willing to help anyone in need. Besides the aged parents, Andrew and Martha Anderson, he leaves five brothers and two sisters, together with his betrothed*, to whom he had pledged his love and heart, to mourn his untimely death. The brothers and sisters are: Ole A. of Fond du Lac, Wis.; Mrs. Mattie Thomas, Ridgeway; Mrs. Lena Amble, Vermont, Dane Co., Wis.; Andrew A., Monroe, Wis.; Martin, Charley, and Johnnie, all of Dodgeville. The funeral took place from the Anderson home and the Dodgeville Lutheran church on Tuesday, August 3rd, Rev. Nestande officiating. The funeral was one of the largest witnessed in the neighborhood, and the spacious church was filled to its utmost capacity. The mortal remains were laid to rest at the old Rock Church Cemetery. We desire to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing parents, brothers, sisters and relatives, and to her who mourns over her betrothed. May Christ be your comfort and stay. Christ Anderson, peace unto thy dust, blessed be thy memory. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to friends near Barneveld, especially to Zepplins, Casadys and Griffiths and others, also to their kind friends and neighbors here, for the many acts of kindness tendered them during the brief illness and death of their beloved son and brother. N. *his betrothed was Minnie Zepplin of Barneveld, Wis. Birth date is given as Aug. 7, 1872 in some family documents - Aug. 8 in his obituary.
