Etheridge, son of Peter and Abigil Etheridge, was born in Lamont township Oct. 22, 1885, and passed away in Darlington on Dec. 10, 1939, at the age of 84 years. He was one of a family of ten children. He was united in marriage to Jennie Roberts of Darlington on March 26, 1879 by the Rev. John Tresidder, who was pastor of the local church. In the first years of married life Mr. Etheridge farmed in Iowa. Later he returned to the vicinity of Darlington where he was employed by the highway department, having charge of a road patrol. Failing health, however, caused his retirement several years ago. His wife, six brothers and a sister have preceded him. Those surviving are two sisters, Hattie Hungerford of California, Emma Alderman of Tunnell City, Wis., one brother William of Darlington, and an adopted son of Eldora, Ia. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Nelson funeral home, the Rev. E. Jeffrey officiating. Burial was made in Union Grove cemetery.
