Well-filled baskets were brought and spread on the table at 12:30. The center of the table was decorated with four beautiful wedding cakes, made by Mrs. Golda Parkinson, Mrs. William Andrews, Mrs. Clara Godfrey and Mrs. Joe Cannon. The afternoon was spent in visiting and playing cards. In the evening 31 neighbors and friends came in to spend the evening. Some talked over old times, and others played cards until 12 o'clock. Each one departed for their homes, feeling they had attended an occasion that is very seldom heard of. Hezekiah Andrews and Margaret Etheridge were united in marriage at Fayette, Wisconsin, on March 7, 1869, by Rev. Dinsdale. To the union were born five children, three boys and two girls: Benjamin and Robert at home, William of Gratiot; Mrs. Thomas Malott of Darlington. Mrs. Joe Cannon passed away 25 years ago, leaving 3 boys and 1 girl, who made their homes with Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. There are ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Hezekiah has been enjoying fairly good health. He is 83 years old. He has two brothers and three sisters living. They are: Harve, who is 80, James, 78, of Darlington; Martha Henry, 78, of South Dakota; Emma Davis, 74, Darlington; Belle Bronson, 70, of Argyle, and Rose Worrell, 63, of Waterloo, Iowa. Margaret has been enjoying good health up until last year. She is 83 years old and has three sisters and four brothers living. They are: Delphia Lymbern, 79, of Mauston, John, 77, of Darlington; Emery, 75, of Nebraska; Emma Alderman, 72, of Tunnel City; Hattie Hungerford, 70, of Mauston, and Wm. Etheridge, 67, of Darlington. I think it will be noticed that both the Andrews and Ethridge families have lived to an exceptional age. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews have spent their whole life on the farm between Fayette and Darlington. Old Clipping Published in 1934 Hezekiah The following is handed to us by John W. Riley, an old friend of Hezekiah Andrews: "And I will add unto thy days fifteen years." 2 Kings, 20-6. Many years ago the above message (from the Lord) was delivered to the King of Judah. Today in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, lives a man bearing the same name. Whether or not he is a direct descendant, the writer cannot say, yet this man has many of the characteristics of the "King of old." He has served many times as "King" of his town, and he has never hesitated to uphold the rights of his Kingdom. His name is Hezekiah Andrews, and this is the story he told me the other day: "Twenty-five years ago my father died, he was past seventy. The minister who preached the funeral sermon remarked upon the fact that all the children were living. (eight - four boys and four girls.). Now after - after twenty-five years those children are still all alive." This is something unusual. "Ki", as everybody calls him, is far from being an ordinary man. He is well into the seventies, and he told the writer, "that on March 7, 1928, he had been married fifty-nine years." No woman could live with an ordinary man that long. While Mr. Andrews admits that he is not as spry as he used to be, he and his wife are in pretty good health. And the writer believes that it would be safe to say, that even more than fifteen years will be added to their days. W.J. Martin (written about 5 years previous) Hezekiah Andrews Obituary Unknown Newspaper, 1934 OBITUARY-ANDREWS Hezehiah Andrews was born November 25, 1850, in Crawford County Pennsylvania. He came here with his parents in 1864, and settled in Lamont township. On March 7, 1869, he was united in marriage to Margaret Ethridge, of Fayette. Five children were born to this union. His wife and one daughter preceded him in death. Mr. Andrews is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Malott, of Lamont, and Robert and Benjamin, at home, and William of Wiota. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters: They are Harve, of Lamont; James of Darlington; Mrs. Martha Henry, of Ames, Iowa; Mrs. George Davis, of Fayette; Mrs. Belle Bronson of Argyle, and Mrs. Lee Worrell of Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. Andrews also leaves ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mr. Andrews' death did not come as a shock to the community, as he had been in failing health for two years. He will be sadly missed by his family and his friends. Funeral services were held at the farm home in Lamont township at one o'clock, and from there the body was taken to the Nelson funeral home at Darlington. Rev. J. A. Vincent of Lancaster officiated and the burial was in the Union Grove cemetery by the side of his wife. Honorary pall bearers were J. J. Kirwan, Gratiot; Joseph B. Rielly, Darlington; Thomas Moran, Darlington; Tyler Smith, Fayette; Edward Renshaw, Fayette and T. S. Nethery, Darlington. Active bearers were six grandsons. Flower girls were four granddaughters.
