  Biographical Sketches: WILLIAM TYSON, farmer, Sec. 18; P. O. Darlington; is a native of England, and was born near Liverpool in 1827; after reaching manhood, he came to the United States; in 1850, he came to Wisconsin and settled in La Fayette Co., where he now lives, and made a farm; he was one of the early settlers on this prairie; at that time their principal market for what they raised was among the miners; he has been successfully engaged in farming for many years. In January, 1864, Mr. Tyson was united in marriage to Miss Mary Varty, a native of England; they have two children -- George William and John Marshall.

 William Tyson was born in Lancashire, England, October 3, 1827 and died at his home in Monticello, Wisconsin Oct 31, 1900, aged 73 yrs and 28 days.
 He was born of a sturdy old English family and remained with his parents at his native town until 1850, when he, his father, mother, four brothers and four sisters left the old home for the United States. After quite an eventful voyage they arrived at Darlington, Wisconsin, which at that time was a comparatively new settlement with most of the surrounding country an unbroken prairie. Quick to grasp the opportunity afforded by such a country and soil they settled on a rich tract of land about six miles ... (TBC)
 William was survived by two sons, George and Marshall, three brothers, George, Shullsburg, Watson, Blair, NE, Peter, Arlington, NE, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Folan, Los Angeles, and Sarah Tyson, Darlington.

 Miss Sarah Tyson, of Darlington, is here on account of the illness of her brother, Wm.

 Mr. Wm. Tyson, an old and highly respected citizen of Monticello, died at his home just north of town last Wednesday morning after a lingering illness of several years. The deceased was born in Lancaster, England, in 1823. In his early youth he moved with his parents to this country and settled near Darlington, WI. In 1863 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Varty and in 1883 moved near Apple River where he lived until the time of his death. He leaves a wife and two sons to mourn his departure. The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which the remains were interred in the Highland cemetery.

 William was born in Lancashire, England on October 3, 1827 and remained there until his emigration on June 29, 1850, when he, his parents and siblings arrived in New York aboard the ship Columbus that departed from Liverpool, England. After quite an eventful voyage they arrived at Darlington, WI., which at that time was a comparatively new settlement with most of the surrounding country an unbroken prairie. Quick to grasp the opportunity afforded by such a country and soil they settled on a rich tract of land.
 At Williams death he was survived by two sons, George and Marshall, three brothers, George, Shullsburg, Watson, Blair, NE, Peter, Arlington, NE, and two sisters, Mrs Mary Folan, Los Angeles, and Sarah Tyson, Darlington, according to the Warren Sentinel-Leader on November 14, 1900.

This volume is arranged by Township and Range, then by Section, showing the names of the first settlers who "entered onto land," in connection with the laws then applicable enabling persons to perfect title to government land by improving it and paying a relatively nominal purchase price to the government (e.g., $1.25 per acre).  2)Mary Tyson, married to Wm., female, race W, age 39, born in England, occupation housekeeper, both her parents were born in England.
 3) George Wm. Tyson, son, single male, race W, age 15, he was born in Wisconsin.
 4) Marshall Tyson, son, single male, race W, age 3, born in Wisconsin
 5)Chas. Purson, relation was listed as other, single, male, race W, age 21, born in Swed, occupation was servant, both his parents were born in Sweden.
 6)George Smith, relation other, single, male, race W, age 18, born in Wisconsin, occupation servant, both his parents were born in NY.
