WAYLAND - Aubrey D. Shaver, 91, passed Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville. Aubrey was born Dec. 7, 1910 in Springwater, a son of Dale and Cora (Walker) Shaver. He married Clara Kimbel on Sept. 23, 1936. She survives. He was the owner and operator of Aubrey Shaver Trucking Co. in Wayland for 37 years. He also was the maintenance supervisor at Wayland Central School for 10 years until his retirement. Even after his retirement, he continued to do repair work on trucks and vehicles at his residence for many years. He was predeceased by his sister Beulah Brown Hoppough in 1982.
Aubrey was a member of the Wayland United Methodist Church, the Wayland Historical Society, the Wayland Golden Agers, AARP and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara; his daughter Elaine Dianetti of Las Vegas, Nev.; his son Dennis (Gayle) Shaver of Wayland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors. Friends called 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services were held 11 a.m., Monday, with the Rev. Osceola Wharton officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Springwater.
