 Bit and Pieces
 L.S. Ovitt born Feb. 22, 1831 in Hadley, Saratoga County, Ny. Parents were Samuel & Appollonia (Brooks) Ovitt.
 Children were: Lucinda, Anson, Louisa, David, Rufus, L.S.
 Chloe, Normal, Ravina, Laura. All children left home by a young age. At of the age 8 years L.S. Ovitt began to care for himself working for board and clothes. At the age of 24 came of Oshkosh, WI (winnebago county). After three years went to Shiocton (Outagamie County) bought 40 acres of land, built a 16' x 20' loghouse. Arrived January 2 and April 30 had the land ready for first crops. Married Susan Griffith in Oshkosh, her parents James & Betsy Griffith. On 12/1/1863 enlisted Co. I, 3rd WI Cavalry transferred to K sent to Fort Scott, discharged 8/19/1865. In 1866 he purchased 40 more acres. Their children were: Laverna, Mary, Ida, Appollonia, Temmie, Bertha, Mathilda, James & Norman. I found Bertha married Charles Chase (they moved from Shawano, WI to Oregon) and Appollonia married Peter Peterson and resided in Hutchins, Shawano County. Appollonia was born 7/1876 and died in 1918, Peter was born 8/1856 and died in 1942.
