Abraham signed theapplication in the presence of Lawrence Culp and Elizabeth Swope, bothof Perry County. Samuel Seals of Perry County testified under oaththat he had served with Abraham. Samuel is on the Perry County, Ohiocensus of 1850, age 55. Elizabeth Swope was the eldest daughter ofCharlotte and the stepdaughter of Abraham. Lawrence Culp was marriedto Rachel, another stepdaughter. If this is the case then James and Elizabeth were divorced andElizabeth never remarried or had children. She lived the last 10 ormore years of her life in the home of her sister, Clarissa Truex.
