I. William, b. 26th Sept. 1757; d. 12th Aug. 1837. He was a student at Wil liam and Mary in 1774. 11th Nov. 1807, he proposed to lay off a town at Ro cketts, adjoining Richmond. Dec., 1809, offers �Powhatan Seat� for sale, d esigning to remove to Richmond. 22d Dec. 1812, offers in the Richmond �Enq uirer� fifteen or twenty lots according to the plan of Port Mayo for sal e. He served in the State line during the Revolution, and was a representa tive in 1780; a member of Episcopal conventions as lay delegate from the M onumental church, Richmond, 1819-29. He m. (firstly) Elizabeth Bland POYTH RESS, 1759-1806, eldest dau. of Peter and Elizabeth (BLAND) POYTHRESS of B ranchester, Prince George Co.; m. (secondly) Miss Lucy FITZHUGH; no issu e. He and his wife are buried at �Powhatan Seat.�
