a. Note:   ddaughter Katie Maxwell. Happy Birthday to both those beautiful girls. The third picture shown from Trina's album is of course of Rommie, Mary, Duguid and Bob Holt. They are in the back yard of the Holt Mansion, where we used to gather and drink booze and visit afternoons and evenings and have a very good time. Duguid always claimed that the only way to have Quail was to hang them by their feet on string and suspend from the porch rafters until they fell off the string. They were then properly aged and had lost their gamey taste. He also propounded the way to cook them, which we tried once in the fireplace at the Mansion. You simply buried them in the hot ashes, feathers, guts and all. When done you raked out the lumps of charcoal. When you broke them open the feathers and skin came off with the ashes and charcoal. You picked off and ate the legs and breasts and never got inside where the guts remained. As I recall they were pretty tasty. Happy Spring to everyone. Hugh Maxwell
