a. Note:   m Senior-Milne CD-Rom by ABC Publications, I discovered an entry in the American Branch referring to a "Charles" who supposedly settled in the US and whom is said to be responsible for the Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia branches of US Hamersley's. This was quite an interesting find, and I will continue to investigate this theory for my "lost branches" of VA, MD and PA.
  DAR data lists DOB as 1757 d. 1820 m. Sarah Sankey - records of Campbell Co. clearly place his date of death as 1806 when his will was proved. Ancestor # A050449; another interesting thing is that DAR records would seem to indicate that William's son William Jr. was the son of Sarah Sankey, not Jane Blair. I have found no evidence of the existence of this person, and must therefore draw the conclusion that perhaps this was not a spouse of William afterall, and that Sarah & William were the parents of the first six children of this family, and where Jane Blair fits into it (if at all) it is unclear.
  International marriage records indicate that Wm. Hammersley m. Sarah Sankey, both dates of birth are 1740, with Sarah in Delaware, and Wm. in "SU"
  Source: Tom Marshall - Purchased Land in Prince Edward Co. Virginia, but probably not born there. Not sure at this time where he immigrated or emigrated from.
  The mention of a "Jean Hamersley" in William Sr.'s will, may have had a daughter with Jane B and her name was possibly Jean or Jane.
  Furthermore, I have found no proof to date that William Sr. ever married Jane Blair. All VA records pertaining to Jane Blair that I have found, indicate that she married a Rev. James Henderson.
