Notes
a. Note:   Charles Albert Taylor had real estate foresight and bought 65 acres in Urbanna, VA in April 1891 and moved his family from Hampton, VA to a beautiful spacious home overlooking Urbanna Creek. Thereafter, the home was known as "The Old Taylor Place." I can even remember visiting my grandmother Rosa there when I was a youngster. In the back yard there was an area that turned to mud during some high tides. I remember my cousin Jennings Bryan like to chase me around the house and trip me into the puddle every chance he could when we visited the family home together. My mother really didn't like me to get my white knickers all muddy so I had to learn how to run faster than he. Jennings also like to eat the vast number of corn-on-the-cob my grandmother would prepare for Sunday lunch, and I've never seen one individual eat as much corn as he did. We all enjoyed the fried chicken that was served at every meal. Eventually, the home fell into disrepair and was demolished. The property was sold to a developer and is now the site of several very beautiful condominiums overlooking the creek. I have a half dozen color photos of the Taylor home taken prior to its demolition. It didn't take long for Charles Taylor to assume a leadership role in the affairs of the town and he served on the Town Council from 1914 until his death in 1945.
