Note: 1921 - Obituary - "The Daily Progress", Charlottesville, Virginia - March 10, 1921 - Mosby Veteran Dies in County Richard Noland Sprouse Expires After Long Illness. Mr Richard Noland Sprouse, confederate veteran and farmer, formerly at the White Hall neighborhood, died at 9:30 o'clock last evening at his home on the Scottsville Road, 4 miles south of the city, after an Illness of over two months. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Methodist Church at White Hall, and the interment will be in the church cemetery. During the last year of the Civil War. Mr. Sprouse, a mere youth ran away from home and joined Col. Mosby's Rangers. The war was over, he returned to his native county to engage in farming. He was industrious and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. Mr Sprouse married Miss Frances Lankford, of near Hickory Hill. She survives with six children. Three sons and three daughters, John Minor, R. P. and Hunter Sprouse. Mrs Maggie Sprouse and Mrs Archie Gibson, all of the county, and Mrs Jas Breeden, of Glasgow, Virginia.
