Note: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~stevestevens/all/17421.htm This John Minor Sprouse, was the first of the family to come to Albemarle county, and soon after married Bethel Wood of Albemarle in 1798. He was known as "Uncle Jack" in the family of Mr. Charles Harper with whom he served. This John, also had a son John M. Sprouse who was born at Charlottesville, June 5th 1802; he too was called "Uncle Jack" by the Harper family, and the Sprouse's were then known as the "Harper Sprouse's," for having lived so long with them. This last John Sprouse, though nearly sixty, entered the Confederate Army, and was mortally wounded at the battle of Seven Pines, June 2nd, 1862, dying at Charlottesville June 11th 1862. 2723 Noted events in his life were: • Land: John Sprouse Bounty Land Warrant War of 1812, 1871, Albemarle County, Virginia, USA. 2732 Died 1 Apr 1848, Albemarle County, Virginia, md 2 Jul 1804 Rachel Wood (P), Albemarle County, VA.
