Note: He grew up in Newark, New Jersey and graduated from the Newark Academy and Rutgers University. He became an attorney, married and moved to Upper Montclair, NJ. He bought a home at 408 Highland Ave in 1937 and lived there with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Northrup, and their two children, Barbara and Don, until abt. 1964. He was very active in tennis, both as a player and official. He was President of the Eastern Lawn Tennis Association and was referee of the Eastern Grass Court Championships at Orange lawn for many years. He was Chairman of the Committee on Rules and Regulations of the U.S. Lawn Tennis Association. He was Vice President and Trustree of the Montclair Country Club, and Deputy Director and Control Center Director of the Montclair Civil Defense Council and served on the Volunteer Ambulance Corporation.
