a. Note:   The sponsors at the baptism of Elizabeth Meckes were Jacob Sterner and Anna Christina. The records of Hamilton Union Church show that Elizabeth Lessig died on 17 July 1850, just after the census was taken. However, the records do not give her location of burial.
  The house in which Elizabeth lived with her husband, Philip Lessig, was of Swiss-German design, built in the 1790s. It is still standing and has been designated as a Monroe County Historical site. The house was later occupied by son, John Lessig, and grandson, Samuel Lessig. ("Historical Legacy of Monroe County", prepared by Monroe County Planning Commission, April 1980, page 42)
