a. Note:   Edwin Elmer Edwards (Meckes) and his first wife, Louisa Meier, were married by Rev. H. W. Elson (Phila. Marriage License #163678).
  On 12 September 1918, Edwin Elmer Edwards registered for the draft of World War
 I. He registered under the name "Elmer Edward". In 1918 he and his second wife,
 Anna, were living at 328 N. 14th Street in Allentown, PA. He was employed as a
 carpenter for George Fuller in South Bethlehem, PA. He was tall and of medium
 build, with blue eyes and chestnut hair.
  During his lifetime Edwin changed his name a number of times. His name at birth
 was Edwin Elmer Meckes. When he died he went by the name Elmer Edwards. He
 apparently dropped the given name "Edwin".
  Elmer is buried in Northwood Cemetery.
