Note: 42 Elizabeth had a son, William. The father was Linford Van Buskirk. They were not married. In 1850 Elizabeth Meckes, age 36, was living in Ross Twp., Monroe Co., PA, in the household of her mother and step-father, Susan and Frederick Meckes. Also living with her was her son, William Buskirk age 7. (1850 census, Monroe Co., PA, Ross Twp., pg. 49B, house #196, family #196) In 1900, in a newspaper column of news of Rossland, it was reported that "Elizabeth Mackes, mother of William Buskirk, is very ill at the latter's home. The old lady is in her ninety second year and is the oldest person in Ross Township". ("The Jeffersonian", Stroudsburg, Thursday, 19 April 1900, pg. 6) Elizabeth died three years later in the Danielsville district of Lehigh Twp. in Northampton Co. and was buried in St. Matthew's Church cemetery. There is no tombstone on her grave.
