  According to Catharine’s pension application, George Erwin enlisted in Co E, 65 Reg. N.C. State Troops on or about the 15th day of April 1863 and received wounds on or about the 15 Sep 1864 in the State of New York. He was taken prisoner at New Kinstons North Carolina and died in Elmira, New York. There is only one document in her pension application file.
