Frederic Dean et al. Filed 29 Mr. 1867. Attachment Bill. On night of 18 Mar. 1867 Brakebill of Monroe Co. had barn, stock, corn, etc. willfully and malicioulsy burned by DEAN then of Monroe Co. who was arrested but broke custody before the trial and now absconds. Brakebill charges that deed to James R. Henley is fraudulent. Sep. 1869, depositions to be taken in Dallas, Texas of Elizabeth, Martha , and Polly DEAN, and of Elizabeth DEAN. June 1870, death of DEAN is proven and suit revived against widow Elizabeth, and children Elizabeth, Martha, Polly Ann, Tennessee, G.C., and Jehu DEAN, Eliza Jane Axley and husband S.D., heirs, all nonresidents except the Axleys. Publication made in the Sweetwater Enterprise. Decree for Brakebill. Alexander of Henry's Cross Roads, Sevier Co., and Fowler, age 63 in 1870, of Monroe Co. are brothers-in-law. In 1860 Fowler signed a land note with Frederick Dean to Alexander. Dean is now dead, leaving the country after being sued for damages on a charge of having burned Brakebill's barn. 1868, witness William Fowler, 25, is son of Abijah and witness Guilford C. James R. Henley et. al. Filed 18 Jul 1868. Complicated land deals and law suits. Abijah Fowler, James W. Axley, and Abijah Dean were sureties on Frederick Dean's Constable Bond, and Dean made a Deed of Trust to protect them. Joseph Brakebill, brother-in-law of Frederick Dean, brought suit against him for the burning of his barn. Eliza, wife of James R. Henley, is daughter of Samuel Edington and Samuel has one other child. James R. Henley's brother is G. W. Henley "a single man, without any means, and engaged in the practice of medicine who would not of course be very likely to be purchasing lands even if her had means." 17 Sept 1867, death of Frederick Dean, a nonresident, is admitted in Court. Suit is revived against J.H. Kelsoe, Adm., and Elizabeth Dean widow, and Elizabeth, Martha, Polly Ann, and Tennessee Dean, Eliza J. Axley formerly Dean and husband S. D. Axley, and G. C. Dean, heirs. No.202) Filed 29 Mar 1867. Joseph Brakebill vs Frederic Dean et al. On night of 18 Mar 1867 Brakebill had barn, stock, corn etc. all worth about $2000 wilfully and maliciously burned by Frederic Dean then of Monroe Co. Douthet Axley is son-in-law of Dean. Jun 1870: Death of Dean is proven and suit revived against widow Elizabeth and Elizabeth, Martha, Polly A., Tennessee, G.C. and Jehu Dean, Eliza J. Axley and husband S.D. Axley, heirs, all nonresidents except the Axleys. Publication made in the Sweetwater Enterprise. Dean was arrested for the arson but fled out of State. 21 Sep 1869: depositions to be taken in Dallas, Texas of Elizabeth, Martha, and Polly Dean, and of Elizabeth Dean.
