  3rd Regiment, Alabama Reserves
 3rd Reserve Regiment, organized during the summer of 1864, was composed of
 very young men, and over 45 years of age. Stationed at Mobile, it served in
 General B.M. Thomas' Brigade, District of the Gulf. In February, 1865, the unit
 was ordered to Selma. Six companies were assigned guard duty at the post of
 Cahaba, and in March attached to General Clanton's command. It was reported to
 be at Montgomery during April with approximately 300 effectives, and in May
 was included in the surrender of the department of Alabama, Mississippi, and
 East Louisiana. Colonel William M. Brooks, Lieutenant Colonel W.D. Bulger,
 and Major Whitfield Walker were in command.

 Calhoun, Cherokee and Randolph Counties
  Most of these men were from the Chulafinee/Pinetucky areas of what is now Cleburne County.

 State of Alabama, Randolph County
 Probate Court, Sept. 19, 1897
  Estate of David R. Nixon, deceased
  This day came R.H. Harris, as administrator of the estate of David R. Nixon,
 deceased and filed his petition in writing and under oath to sell certain
 lands of said estate to pay debts of said estate. It is ordered that Monday
 the 8th of November 1897 be set to hear said petition at which time all
 parties interested may appear and contest the same if they see proper. A.J.

  ADMINISTRATOR'S NOTICE
  Estate of David R. Nixon, deceased
  Letters of administration on the estate of David R. Nixon, deceased, having
 been granted to the undersigned, all parties having claims against said estate
 are hereby notified to present the same within the time required by law (12
 months) or such claims will be forever barred. This 20th day of Sept.
