 "Until the winter of 1893, they lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, in the Como Avenue vicinity, where Dad also worked for the Northern Pacific Railway Company. Inga, Mamie, and Edwin were born there. Dad was bothered with Rheumatism and thought it would be better for his health to live on a farm than continue with his present work.
 . . .Dad built a very good log house. . . While the house was being constructed, the family lived temporarily in a small house on the Martin place, on the west shore of the Platte River. Charles was born there on 2 June 1893. (pg. 2)
