 From Laurel Mains:
There is a slight disagreement about the children of
Mary Ann Cherry. I am basing my info on what my family told me, and the
family tree notes written by either Homer (my grandfather or his father).
I know a census has a Minerva in the household, but the family notes never
mention her, and Mary Ann did run a boarding house so maybe she was a neice
 or cousin.
  >Question from me (VF): DO you think that Mary Wheeler, age 9 (b. ca 1871), in the 1870
 >Census of Warren Co., IA is the same person as Lottie Wheeler b. 12 May
 1862,
 >as Lottie is NOT listed in the 1870 census. I could make a case for her
 >name being Mary Lottie (or Lottie Mary). She could have been named for
 her
 >mother (Mary Ann [Cherry] Wheeler) and Grandmother (Charlotte "Lottie" [Nesselrode] Cherry). In addition, we suspect Mary Ann was named for her grandmother (Lottie's Great-grandmother), Mary Ann [Holt] Nesslerode.
The paper I have, that was written by either Homer or John F., says that Enos and Mary had 13 children, and 7 lived to maturity. But I always came up with 14 children and wasn't sure who to drop. My mom knew of Nettie Elford, quite well, and I met Edith Burget in the
 1970s.
Actually my piece of paper says they had 14 children, so if we combine Mary and Lottie, then we are short a child. Do you know where Clara went in 1880, she seems to be missing in some of the censuses?
I had a list of 10 of Mary Ann's children, and Affie was on the top of the list. Maybe he was first born, I don't have any idea. I got the other names from the LDS website, and from Nelda. The names on the sheet of paper were: Affie, Eddie, John, Simon, Lavona-Elford-Young, Lottie (Harry Kneller), Orrin (Alice Harnett), Rose (Nels Nelson), Clara Burgett, Bertie. But at the top it says Mary Ann had 14 children. So, I don't know more than that.
