In the birth record for his son, Guy, Christopher states he was born in Noble Co., Ohio, but Christopher was born in Dec 1848 and Noble County was not formed until 1851. But Union Twp. is still in Morgan Co -- even after the creation of Noble Co. It is in the western part of the county and is bordered to the west by Perry Co.

  CHRISTOPHER C. CHERRY
Christopher C. Cherry was born on December 12, 1848 in Noble County, Ohio and past away at Methodist Hospital on June 17, 1937.
When he was 5 years old, he came to a farm near Greenbush, Iowa. It was there that "Tom" as we knew him, grew to manhood.
In the year 1870, he was united in marriage to Rhoda Hepsibah King. To this union there were 10 children born of which 8 are living.
For a number of years, Tom followed the occupation of farming. He lived near Greenbush, Prole and Wick before coming to Norwalk. Here, he was a drayman for Dalby Lumber Co.. Horses were used in those days and no more faithful man to every duty and no more kinder man to his horses could be found.
About 35 years ago during and Evangelistic meeting held at Prole, Tom Cherry, with a number of others confessed Christ as his Savior and was baptized. Tom often said with sorrow that many who began the new life with him that day drifted away, but that he tried to be faithful. Yes, Tom Cherry fought a good fight and finished his course with joy. He gave up his tobacco, his liquor, his profanity and his temper.
He was always in Bible school and services of the church and gave what he could for their support. He was always ready to say a word for his Master, whom he tried to serve.
His wife preceded him in death on January 10, 1937. The sons and daughters who survive him are as follows: Allen of Wick, Frederick of Philadelphia, PA, Guy of Clear Lake, Mrs Frank Burlingame of Norwalk, Mrs Friedlien of Perry, Missouri, Mrs Rienholdt of Prole, Mrs Wilber Wheeler of Prole, and Mrs Williams of Pueblo, Colorado. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends.
He believed in God and that God would answer prayer. Through Christ, he learned how to resist temptation. He had a strong conviction of right and made no compromises with evil.
This fathers life will ever call to the home of his children. His example will not be forgotten. His voice will not be silent for he wants his Savior to be their Savior, too.
