Notes
a. Note:   1870 Census--Jefferson Twp, Warren Co., Iowa w/husband John Pugh
from Norma (Wright) Conaway, May 2002:
"The ones that I know of the Pugh\Cherry family that came to Ca were: Sarah Lulu, Grace, Maude Genevieve. Sam and the rest of that family stayed in Iowa. Aunt Lu was here in Ca when my grandma "Lottie" came here in 1938, Grandma stayed with her and her third husband, Ralph Carpenter, who Lu married in Minnesota."
  more:
"That obituary was so full of mistakes and etc. as it shows she was born in
Chile Cothe, Ohio and as to her death, Mom said she was at one of her
nephews on a furlough which they had to take from the "Old Soldiers Home"
where she lived because of my Great Grandpa served in the Civil War.
Supposedly she was eating dinner there at her nephew's home and had a heart
attack at the table. This came from my Grandma to my Mom so I am sure it is
 correct.
I am sure there was a death certificate, so perhaps I should send for it in
Des Moines, as I am sure that is where it was held as Great Grandpa; John
W.'s was, I think. I will have to look in my files.
I don't know (where she was born) but found that she died in Grand River, IA. I will see if the original obit is in the family bible where I must have gotten the information where she died. I will let you know tomorrow.
  Norma
