Pacific Daylight Time Subj: Charles E Cherry's second wife- Emily Hoye of Omaha Hello Valerie, I found your references to the Cherry family on WorldConnect, Ancestry and genforum.com We are a group of Hoye-related cousins searching for descendants. We would like to share family stories, fotos and heritage info. I can refer you to Dawn's Family Tree of the Hoye family which includes Emily Hoye's marriage to Charles Edgar Cherry. They are on the 1920 census in Omaha. Around 1923 they came to Long Beach CA. Emily Hoye Zarp Cherry had 2 children from her first marriage to John/Jack Zarp: Harvey C "Harry" Zarp and Elizabeth Zarp. There is a Fuch'sTree on Ancestry.com with some old fotos of Zarp and Cherry family including Emily and Ed Cherry at the beach. On your Tree I see that you are missing the name of Charles E Cherry's second wife. It is Emily Hoye. From census and obituary notices, we know that Charles' son Albert Benjamin Cherry had a son Albert E. Dawn's Tree on Ancestry.com is here: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/33911/person/-2143004867 We appreciate all the Cherry family data you have on the Internet. We would like to share Hoye data with you. Are you descended from Charles Edgar Cherry? Paula California * From: dawnchf@@sbcglobal.net To: vcjfreeman@@aol.com Sent: 4/15/2012 6:44:41 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time Subj: Charles Edgar Cherry Hi Valerie, Ed Cherry is an in-law. I am related to his second wife, Emily H. Hoye Cherry. She was an aunt; sister to my great grandmother. Ed helped to raise my cousins, Harry and Elizabeth Zarp when he married Emily who was a widow. I would love it if you could make it to the cemetery for get a photo of his headstone! What I have discovered is that he his not buried at Sunnyside Cemetery in Long Beach with Emily, Elizabeth and Harry; instead he was buried at Sunnyside Memorial Park which is now called Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 1500 E. San Antonio Long Beach Los Angeles County California USA Postal Code: 90807 Phone: 800-204-3131, ext. 4 I also discovered that the cemeteries in Los Angeles will not do any record look ups for genealogists or Findagrave volunteers. You have to be a relative and get the section, lot and grave number in order to have a volunteer take the headstone photo and I have not gotten that done yet. I live in No. CA, so I was going to call the cemetery office and try to get the grave location and then contact a volunteer. If you can go to the office perhaps they will give you the interment records also. I have gotten a lot of good information from interment records. Also, I was wondering if you have any information about why he was in prison at San Quentin in 1930? I have found some information on Ed Cherry's son, Albert from the newspapers if you would be interested, I will forward it to you. I will attach his Findagrave record to his parents. Thanks!
